Kiss the Cook and the Farmer Too is a seven-part public television series on cooking and farming that combines the art and sensuousness of good food with the practice of eating as a conscious agricultural act. We are what we eat. The ways in which we produce, prepare, and consume food not only affect our personal health and well-being but also the health of our environment and our communities.
In each program there is a cook, a recipe, a meal and its enjoyment, but that’s where the similarity with familiar cooking shows ends. There will be no celebrity chefs, no studio kitchens, and no reality-TV-style cooking competitions. Rather, the preparation and enjoyment of a good meal acts as a window on the blossoming landscape of organic, local, and sustainable food production.
We’ll visit many places… farms, fishing ports, ranches, vineyards, dairies, school cafeterias, and kitchens all over the country.
Stories of ingredients lead us to consider the most important food issues of our time: How do the choices we make about what we eat affect our health, the health of communities, and the environment? How can we eat well and live in harmony with the earth. Practical answers to these questions paired with tips on how to prepare delicious food are the mission of Kiss The Cook and The Farmer Too.
